Nychem® 1561

Nychem® 1561 Nitrile-Butadiene Latex

Nychem 1561 is one of our Specialty Emulsion offerings. It is a noncarboxylated butadiene acrylonitrile copolymer latex with a high nitrile content featuring a combination of excellent oil, grease and hydrocarbon resistance, toughness/resilience, and tear and abrasion resistance. Toughness, abrasion resistance and chemical resistance can be further enhanced though either vulcanization or by adding external crosslinking agents such as melamines, epoxies, phenolics or metal complexes. Nychem 1561 is stabilized with natural surfactants so it exhibits excellent water and alkali resistance and, if desired, can be easily destabilized. Its small particle size promotes fast drying and fast penetration. It is approved for use under FDA regulations 175.105 (adhesives) and 177.2600 (rubber articles). Common applications include coal tar modification and textile coatings.
